I’M DEFENDING A COMEDIAN’S RIGHT TO USE COMEDY TO DELIVER A VERBAL ASS-WHOOPIN TO CHRIS BROWN | xojanedotcom
click that bolded link up there. then read every word.
that, among other reasons (usually funny ones), is why i love Abbi Crutchfield and why i fully support comedian twitter rights.
now, i’m going to stop myself here. ‘cause honayyy…i could go on and on and on about one chris ‘bitchass’ brown and the mentally ill crazies who violently defend and support him.
many of us remember where we were and what we were doing during important historical moments. i remember exactly where i was (in my apartment), what i was doing (drinking tea) and who i was with (J) when i saw this snl sketch for the first time.
there have been plenty of funny lady sketches on snl, so many. but for some reason, this one stays with me always. maybe it’s the moment i fell in love with wiig? or mya’s “whoo!” that did it? i dunno, but if we’re having a conversation and you say the word “exercise” or “leggings” or “steps” or “eighties hair”, especially if you mention a “donna”, my brain immediately goes to this. so, that’s why i’m laughing. it’s not that i find it funny that your mom named donna, who still rocks an eighties bang, ripped her leggings when she fell while doing step exercises. sorry, i hope she’s okay.

happy ‘For a Good Time, Call…’ friday!
go see this. it’s funny. and well-written, by two very smart ladies. and it pretty much outlines the necessary steps to make bank with your bestie. so, there’s that.

you know how i’m always bragging about my friends being cooler than yours? well, now i have proof. check out the trailer for the hilarious film "For A Good Time, Call…", coming to theaters this fall!! that gorgeous brunette getting her phone sex on is my dear friend, Lauren Miller, who also wrote all those sexy words along with Katie Anne Naylon.
it looks good doesn’t it? you’re dying to see it aren’t you? well, good. do that. watch the trailer, fall in love, and share the crap out of this. then once it comes out, go see it three times. and have your friends do the same.
“I like that I stick out. I was watching ‘Valentine’s Day’ on the plane recently. I have a tiny part in that movie. I was watching all the women — Jessica Biel, and Emma Roberts, and Jennifer Garner and Julia Roberts. They are gorgeous women, and I don’t want to take anything away from them, but they all do have a very classical look, with a very thin nose. I’m watching this parade of these faces and then, boom, it was my face, and I was taken aback. I was like, ‘Oh, my nose is so big!’ I have never in my life thought I had a big nose, but, well, there it was. The first time I was on TV, on ‘Flight of the Conchords,’ someone put up a YouTube clip and said, ‘You’re too ugly to be on TV.’ And I was like, ‘That is exactly why it’s a good thing that I’m on TV." - Kristen Schaal
yea girl, it is a good thing you’re on TV. one time for the big nose club.
i’ve somehow grown an affection for Hot in Cleveland and Happily Divorced. like, missing my usual reruns of King of Queens for it. i love Betty White and that chick from Frasier. and, that other chick from Frasier. i especially love Fran Drescher, she’s the hilarious Jewish aunt i never had, but i’m still not sure how this happened. i mean, i’m fine with it. the shows are great and i get the jokes, i guess i’m just worried about premature aging or any other side effects.
gotta scoot, my copy of AARP just got here and my Activia is getting warm.
she’s a Rainbow.
this was a beautifully perfect tribute.
Kristen Wiig is one of the greats. not only is she a brilliant character actress and at times, impressionist, her physicality and comedic timing are among the best in the game. she’s made me laugh and cry, all with a simple look. she’s been a long-time favorite on the SNL stage but most recently with Bridesmaids and her quietly gut-wrenching performance in Friends With Kids, she’s shown her unbelievable range and bona fide acting chops. her unmeasurable contribution to SNL will be deeply missed but whatever is next for Wiig, i know it will be met by crazy amazing success and eager, loyal fans.
happy graduation, Kristen.
it’s here! it’s here! the trailer for mindy kaling’s new show! hello, chris messina. i am so stupid excited for this!
and if one person says anything about there not being enough black people in the trailer i will scream and punch you in the face.
only a few more days until Mother’s Day!
i finally saw Five-Year Engagement yesterday. and yes, it’s funny. and sweet. i still ride hard for the Apatow brand. Jason Segel can do no wrong. Alison Brie is a stand out and does a mean Elmo impression. it made me feel really awesome about my relationship (you’ll get that if/when you see it) and i think all my wedding-planning-questions have been answered. Jason Segel and Nicholas Stoller wrote the ideal wedding. a pretty shitty engagement, poor Tom & Violet - brutal journey, but that’s my kinna wedding.
to those family & friends anxiously awaiting our wedding plans, see Five-Year Engagement. while Tom & Violet’s path isn’t our exact story (thank God!), we are living between two coasts and our engagement was immediately followed by an unexpected opportunity/delay. so, without giving away too much to those who haven’t seen the movie, that kinna wedding will do us just fine. and if you want it to happen sooner than we’re willing to plan it, get on it.
my absolute favorite, most awesome moment of last night’s Comedy Awards: Kristen Wiig & Annie Mumolo’s floor battle.
