favorite dress of the night:

Kate Hudson, wearing Alexander McQueen. according to past years, i fully expected her to be a favorite. stunning perfection, per ushe.

second favorite dress:

Rosario Dawson, wearing Antonio Berardi. the structure, the color, i love every stitch.

favorite hair:

hands down, Glenn Close’s cute curly bob and Kerry Washington’s bone straight goodness. also, as someone who usually wears more makeup than her flawless face calls for, i found Kerry’s nearly nude makeup refreshing.

other honorable mentions:

Naomi Watts in Zac Posen and Megan Fox wearing Dolce & Gabbana.

aside from every second that Tina and Amy were on screen (which wasn’t nearly enough, in my humble opinion), this was my absolute favorite moment from last night’s Golden Globes. Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig to host in 2015! (i want another year of the Fey/Poehler ticket, with much more airtime, of course.)

for my play by play of the entire show, check last night’s twitter feed. i even remembered to almost always mention who won what. for a really good list of all the other hilarious clips, check Huffington Post’s perfect list of the top 10.

I remember seeing Kristen Wiig on her first episode of Saturday Night Live. I don’t remember the sketch, I just remember her. She was so confident and funny right out of the gate. You would have thought she had been on the show for years. She was instantly one of my all-time favorite cast members.
The same thing seems to have happened with the film Bridesmaids. It’s her first starring role, and she is fantastic — vulnerable, explosive and hilarious. Kristen, 38, was nominated for a Golden Globe for her performance. Her first screenplay — insightful, brave, groundbreaking and also hilarious. Kristen and her wonderful partner Annie Mumolo are nominated for an Academy Award.
She never thought she was making a statement about women in comedy. Of course women in comedy have always been brilliant. Look at her old SNL castmates Amy Poehler, Rachel Dratch, Maya Rudolph and Tina Fey. And that is just the women on one show!
For her, it was just about making a movie she could be proud of, and she labored over it tirelessly for half a decade. I guess coming fast out of the gate requires years of hard work that nobody but me gets to see. I am the lucky one.

i’m covered in goosebumps.

i’m covered in goosebumps.

it’s taken me all week, but i’m finally getting around to picking my “best-dressed” of the golden globes.  i didn’t watch, i’ve only seen clips & photos but i feel pretty good about the decisions i’ve made.  ha, as if what i think means anything to the orbit of the fashion world!
in no particular order other than from top-left to bottom-right:
Sandra Bullock - j’adore her, always have. loving that she’s back on the scene. she’s wearing Bottega Venetta and my absolute fave part of this dress is the back (not pictured but totally worth a google search).  she looks great and my fave accessory of hers is that beaming smile that screams happiness every time she looks at her hubby, jesse james. awww *draws heart in air with pointer fingers*
Elisabetta Canalis in Roberto Cavalli. my favorite part of this dress and possibly the only reason she’s even on the list is that woven bodice.  amazing!  oh, and for those that have no idea who she is…her title is simply, George Clooney’s girlfriend. ok, ok…she’s a model.  but seriously, did we know her before she started dating GC?
Anna Paquin in Stella McCartney was one of my absolute faves!!  i’m never one to choose a sleeve of this style but this dress was PERFECT!  from the plunging neckline to the golden sparkles to the understated hair, she’s never looked better.  yes, i ignored that awful shoe choice and just kept my eyes on the prize…this most perfect piece of wearable art.
Maggie Gyllenhaal is one of my on-screen faves but doesn’t always get my vote for the fashion choices.  so this mermaid-style gown by RM by Roland Mouret was a pleasant surprise.  for someone who doesn’t seem to favor structure in style or career choices, this perfectly proportioned gown was a wonderful choice.  she couldn’t look prettier!
Courtney Cox blew me away wearing, Victoria Beckham.  no, i’m not mistaken.  she’s wearing V-Becs dress and she looks flawless.  fits her perfectly.  the shape of the dress is one of the most flattering i’ve seen.  from head to toe, gorgeous.
Mo’Nique looked perfect in Reem Acra (a new name i’m eager to get to know).  perfect shade, cut & fit for her.  love the hair pulled back.  skin looks awesome.  stunning, really.  so much so that i’m willing to over-look those unshaven legs she so graciously shared with cameras.  oye!
Emily Blunt looks wonderfully romantic in this Dolce & Gabbana gown.  and, how cute are her and Office-Jim?!  awww.  love that she’s wearing her hair down, with simple jewelry and i haven’t seen tulle & chiffon look this great, without being over the top, in ages. another awww for Jim & Em.  awww.  (and yes, i realize his real name isn’t Jim.  it’s my blog, i do what i want.)
Toni Collette, wearing one of my favorite award season vets: Elie Saab, looked smashing!!  she’s rocking that awesome new body of hers in a glammed up golden number with flattering detail.  it’s no wonder she walked away with a win!  yay, Toni!!
there were also two other mention-ables that looked stunning but i simply ran out of time to track down their names & designers. colin farrell’s girlfriend looked amazing in the blue mermaid style dress with the sweetheart cut bust.  might even have to add her dress to my list of “possible dresses for a possible wedding, maybe”.  the other was the super-lovely mrs. robert downey jr.  actually one of my faves for the effortless glam of her dress.  yea, they both looked fantastic.  they’re on the list.  also best dressed, just file them under: not pictured. High-res
